Victorian Violet Purple Wool Black Soutache Walking Suit Bodice Jacket & Skirt
This antique Victorian era violet purple wool black soutache walking suit bodice jacket and skirt dates from 1900. It is made of a dark bluish purple violet color wool fabric, with black silk soutache work applique trim on the top. This lovely two piece ladies tailored travel walking suit includes a fitted bodice style jacket, with a peplum skirted waist, gathered shoulders, long full sleeves with fitted cuffs, a black velvet soutache fold over collar and black velvet buttons down the front for closure. It is fully lined in a luxurious white silk satin fabric. The jacket measures 23 inches long, with a 24 inch waist, 34 inch bust, 12 inch back and 24 inch long sleeves. Included is a matching fabric, unlined, long floor length full skirt, with pleating and hook & eye closures. The skirt measures 39 inches long, with a 2 inch hem, 44 inch hips and a 22 inch waist. This wonderful women's walking suit would have been worn for travel. It is in good wearable condition, with a few small moth nip holes in the skirt.
