This antique Victorian era plush velvet burgundy red winter jacket double breasted coat dates from 1871. It is made of a dark red burgundy wine color plush silk velvet fabric, with beautiful buttons made of carved etched mother of pearl for closure down the front, on the back tails and sleeve cuffs. A total of 22 buttons in all. This wonderful winter coat steampunk style military inspired ladies jacket has a tailored style, with a double breasted broad front, pleated bustle back drape, with a peplum skirted waist, long sleeves and a small fold over collar. It is fully lined in a burgundy silk grosgrain ribbed fabric, with a note of provenance sewn inside from "Mrs. Roy Jones 1871". The jacket measures 23 inches long, with a 28 inch waist, 32 inch bust, a 12 inch back and 22 inch long sleeves. It is in excellent wearable condition, with only a small open seam under the arm. |
