This antique Victorian era black silk jet beaded fringe mantle cape capelet dates from 1880. It is made of a black silk grosgrain ribbed fabric covered with black jet beading. There is a decorative floral vine leaf beaded design, with sheer beaded net mesh sides, layered beaded fringe and strung along the bottom edging. This beautiful beaded bodice style mantle cape capelet has a high mandarin neck collar, broad shoulders, with hook and eye closures down the front. It is fully lined in black silk. The cape measures 20 inches long, with a 15 inch neck, 34 inch bust and 14 inches across the shoulders. It is in excellent wearable condition, with only a few loose missing beads. This a rare wonderful piece of wearable Victoriana mourning beaded textile art!
