This vintage Art Deco black silk ecru chain stitch embroidered robe dress coat dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk crepe fabric, with ecru raised chain stitch embroidery work and drawn cut work. There is an ethnic abstract floral vine leaf design done throughout. This delightful day dress has a loose fitting robe coat style shape, with a wrap around front opening, snap closures, a plunging V front neckline, pleating details along the shoulders and long tapered sleeves with button cuffs. It would have been over a simple silk slip dress underneath. The dress measures 35 inches long, with 38 inch hips, waist, bust, a 15 inch back and 25 inch long sleeves. It is in excellent wearable condition, with only one missing button from the sleeve cuff. This is a wonderful piece of wearable Art Deco textile art!
