This antique Au Louvre Paris label Victorian era black chantilly lace silk applique lappet cape stole dates from 1880s. It is made of a black silk taffeta fabric, with applique work decorative designs, a fine black silk chiffon pleated ruffle trim and sheer black net chantilly lace with a swiss dotted, finely decorated floral pattern outlined in black thread shading with scalloped edging. This lovely lace short capelet collar stole mantle has a layered style, with a V front ruffled neckline and long lappet lace panels draping down the front. It is lined in a black silk, with a "Au Louvre Paris Confections 22" label sewn inside. The cape measures 13 inches long, with a 50 inch bust circumference and 20 inches across the shoulders. This quality French made cape is in excellent wearable condition, with only a few tiny frays on the inside silk lining. It is a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana wearable lace art! $200 |
