This antique white silk embroidered floral bird canton wedding shawl coat jacket dates from the 1940s. It is made of an off white ivory color silk fabric, with beautiful hand done raised padded satin stitch embroidery white work. There are Chinese style embroidered pheasant birds, butterflies and a variety of floral vine leaf designs. This beautiful bridal wedding coat jacket was custom made and created from an older antique Manton Canton Chinese Cantonese style Spanish Flamenco piano shawl. It has a short cropped style, with fold over collar lapel, an open front with no closure, slight shoulder padding, 3/4 length sleeves with rolled cuffs and is fully lined. The coat measures 22 inches long, with 42 inch waist, 40 inch bust and 14 inch back. It is in excellent wearable condition. This is truly a rare wonderful piece of wearable textile art!
