This vintage Chinese red silk silver embroidery couching peony robe jacket dates from the 1920s. It is made of a radiant red silk satin fabric, with silver metallic thread embroidered couching work done in a peony floral design, roundel medallions in the center and waves of water along the bottom hemline. The peony is a symbol of love and affection and is representative of good luck. This lovely loose fitting robe style jacket coat has a high mandarin collar, with white silk trim edging, loop button toggle closures down the front. It is fully lined in red silk. The jacket measures 25 inches long, with 46 inch hips, waist and a 44 inch bust. It is in excellent wearable condition. This is a wonderful piece of wearable Chinese textile art!
