This antique Victorian era black velvet jet beaded applique fringe mourning mantle cape dates from 1890. It is made of a black velvet and heavy silk weave fabric, completely covered with black jet beaded applique trim and beaded fringe around the bottom. This magnificent mourning mantle style cloak cape has a high neck beaded trim collar, gathered shoulders, long lappet front panels, with hook & eye closures down the front. It is fully lined in black silk, with inside waistband tie. The mantle measures 16 inches long in the back, 27 inches long in the front, with a 38 inch bust, 15 inches across the shoulders and is quite heavy. It is in good wearable condition, with some missing, loose beads and tassels (see close-ups). This a wonderful piece of wearable Victoriana mourning beaded art! $250 |
