This exquisite Edwardian era antique black Battenburg tape lace silk soutache tailcoat jacket dates from 1910. It is made of a hand stitched black silk Battenburg tape lace, with button hole stitching, connecting brides and bars, braided soutache work done in a scrolling floral leaf design. This lovely lace jacket is loose fitting, a long mid length, with a back cutaway tailcoat split style, long tapered sleeves and open front with braided black silk ribbon ties for closure at the neck. It is fully lined in black silk. The coat measures 37 inches long, with 42 inch hips, a 34 inch waist, 38 inch bust, 15 inch back and 23 inch long sleeves. It is in excellent wearable condition, with only a few small breaks in the lace connecting brides. This is an exceptional beautifully hand made unique one of a kind coat, and a rare find of wearable antique textile lace art!
