This antique Chinese silk embroidered butterfly pomegranate sleeve band cuff robe dates from 1900, the late Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched, made of a bright blue silk damask brocade peony & pomegranate patterned fabric. There is black silk trim and collar, with pink silk peony flower brocade ribbon trim edging. There are dark purple aubergine color silk, colorful embroidered wide sleeve band cuffs, with butterflies and pomegranates which represent love, long life & fertility. This magnificent Manchu style court robe is loose fitting, a long mid length, with a rounded neckline, wide full sleeves and a side opening with black silk loop toggles and gold brass carved round buttons. It is fully lined in a blue cotton fabric. The robe measures 36 inches long, with 62 inch hips, chest, waist and a 36 inch sleeve cuff circumference. It is in good wearable condition, with some fraying inside the collar lining and 2 small frayed holes on the outside black silk collar trim. There is some faint discoloration fading on the blue silk fabric. This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art!
