|
This vintage Edwardian era women's ecru silk embroidered travel motoring driving duster coat dates from 1910. It is made of a beige ecru color fine silk wool blend fabric, with a raised padded satin stitch embroidered trim collar done in pastel and gold metallic thread floral design needlework. This classic women's long loose fitting floor length duster motoring coat jacket has a decorative fold over lapel collar, long full sleeves, with soutache trim button cuffs, a fitted back, kick pleat split back bottom skirt and gold brass pearl buttons for closure down the front. The coat measures 53 inches long, with 40 inch hips, a 28 inch waist, 38 inch bust, 14 inch back and 26 inch long sleeves. This coat would have been worn to protect ones clothing from the dust and mud when traveling, riding and driving in a motor car. It is in good wearable condition, with only a tiny pin hole on the shoulder, a button missing from one cuff with a small stain and some faint staining on the back skirt (see close-up). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of early motoring textile art! $200 |
