This amazing antique Chinese demon figure white silk embroidered Canton piano shawl dates from the 1920s. It is made of an off white cream color silk fabric background, with colorful pastel silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work. There are unusual embroidered Chinese demon figures of Yaoguai a malevolent animal spirit and flowers in each corner. There is a hand knotted macramé white silk fringe which has some tangles and measuring 20 inches long surrounding the entire shawl with rounded corners. The shawls fabric square measures 54 by 54 inches. This quality made Manton Canton Chinese Cantonese style shawl is in good wearable condition, with only a few faint small water spot stains (see close-up). This is truly a rare exceptional piece of wearable textile art!
