This antique Regency Georgian era muslin purple stripe gigot sleeve gown dress dates from the 1830s. It is hand stitched, made of a sheer fine white muslin fabric with a purple stripe design. This gorgeous Georgian gown has a large full puff balloon shape gigot sleeve with crinoline lining, a low scoop neckline, fitted waistband, long floor length full hoop skirt and hook closures down the back. It is lined in the bodice only with a linen camisole top and the skirt is sheer, unlined. The dress measures 58 inches long, with 32 inch waist and 36 inch bust. It is in as-is fair condition, with several small frays and faint stains on the skirt, holes along the shoulders and sleeves (see close-up). There are also several worn areas of color loss on the purple stripes. The provenance on the dress is it came from the Major Benjamin Swan House estate in Woodstock, Vermont and was supposedly used by Wallace Nutting in his photographs. This is truly a rare and early piece of Georgian era textile art!
