Vintage 1920s Purple White Batiste Smocking Embroidered Drop Waist Peasant Dress
This vintage purple and white batiste smocking embroidered drop waist peasant dress dates from the 1920s. It is made of a sheer fine white cotton batiste fabric, with contrasting purple needlework floral raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work, decorative stitched smocking and drawn cut work. This pretty peasant style bohemian Hungarian Czech folk dress has a loose fitting shift style drop waist, with a V front neckline, shoulder smocking, long full sleeves with button cuffs and smocking at the hips. The dress measures 53 inches long, with 34 inch hips, a 34 inch waist, 40 inch bust and 17 inch long sleeves. It is in good wearable condition, with only two small faint age spot stains on the back skirt (see close-up). This is a wonderful piece of wearable bohemian peasant textile folk art!
