Victorian Civil War Era Brown & White Wool Challis Floral Print Hoop Skirt Dress
This antique Victorian Civil War era brown and white wool challis print hoop skirt dress dates from the 1860s. It is hand stitched, made of a soft fine woven wool challis fabric, with a brown and white autumn twig branch floral sunburst design print. This gorgeous gown women's dress has a high neckline band collar, light brown soutache braided trim on the top, long full sleeves, a fitted waistband, long floor length full hoop skirt and decorative brown buttons with hook closures hidden underneath on the front. The bodice and sleeves are lined and there is a inside skirt pocket (see close-up). The dress measures 53 inches long, with a 22 inch waist, 32 inch bust and 15 inch back. It is in good wearable condition, with a few tiny moth nip holes in the skirt. This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of Victoriana textile art!
