This vintage Japanese crane red silver gold embroidered uchikake wedding kimono dates from the Showa period 1960s. It is made of a white silk fabric, with a bright reddish orange, gold and silver metallic thread raised padded satin stitch embroidered Japanese pine trees and crane birds. The crane is a symbol of luck, longevity and fidelity. This magnificent unique uchikake kimono would have been worn by the bride at a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. It is fully lined in a reddish orange color silk fabric, with a large rolled padded bottom hem. The kimono measures 61 inches long, with 42 inch long swinging furisode sleeves and is 50 inches across from sleeve end to sleeve end. It is quite heavy weighing over 5 pounds and is in excellent wearable condition. This is a truly a wonderful piece of wearable Japanese textile art! |
