1850s Victorian Floral Cherry Blossom Print Wool Challis Hoop Skirt Dress Gown
This antique Victorian era floral cherry blossom print wool challis hoop skirt dress dates from 1850. It is hand stitched, made of a soft fine woven wool challis fabric, with a colorful floral cherry blossom leaf design print. This gorgeous gown women's dress has a low rounded scoop neckline, short sleeves with ecru silk trim edging the full flared cuffs, a fitted waistband with pleated gathers and long floor length full hoop skirt. There are hook closures down the back. The dress measures 55 inches long, with a 24 inch waist, 32 inch bust and 12 inch back. It is in as-is fair condition, with several frayed holes in the skirt and sleeve (see close-up). There are also mended repairs under the arms. This is a rare and wonderful piece of early Victoriana textile art which would be great for design, restoration, study or pattern!
