This antique Victorian era men's paisley print cotton waistcoat vest dates from 1855. It is hand stitched and made of a colorful cotton chintz fabric with a paisley pine cone shaped tear drop motif known as the boteh. This gentlemen's waistcoat vest has large mother of pearl buttons for closure and a small slit pocket near the bottom. There is a white cotton fabric backing, with an adjustable gold buckle strap on back which has a patent date of 1855 stamped onto it. The vest measures 23 inches long, with a 32 inch waist and 34 inch chest. It is in excellent wearable condition and looks to have never been worn. This is truly a wonderful Victorian vest and paisley print! |
