This antique Japanese geisha silk damask woven brocade kimono obi sash dates from the late 19th century. It is made of metallic taupe color silk woven into a damask weave brocade fabric, with an Art Nouveau floral pattern design. This gorgeous Japanese senior geisha fukuro obi sash would have been worn wrapped around securing a formal kimono used for ceremonial wear and celebration. It is two-sided with the same patterned brocade fabric on both sides and is lined inside with linen. The obi is quality made, quite heavy weighing 2 pounds and measures 150 inches long and is 12 1/2 inches wide.
