This antique Victorian era blue and green plaid tartan wool bustle gown bodice and skirt dates from 1880. It is made of blue, green, black and yellow Scottish plaid tartan pattern fine wool fabric, with brown velvet trim edging. This pretty plaid 2 piece visiting dress has a long fitted bodice, with a high band neck collar trimmed in velvet and wide sleeve cuffs, long full sleeves, a skirted waist, with button trim back drape and is fully lined with button closures down the front. The bodice measures 22 inches long, with a 24 inch waist, 34 inch bust, 13 inch back and 20 inch long sleeves. There is matching fabric long floor length full skirt, with slight bustle back, velvet trim and ruched gathering around the bottom front, side pocket and is missing the button back closure. The skirt measures 39 inches long, with a 28 inch waist. It is in as-is fair condition, with fraying along the skirt waistband and inside lining which is shredded needing to be removed or replaced. There are missing buttons on the bodice closure and several small moth nip holes on the skirt only (see close-up). This is still a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana wearable art! $200 |
