|
This antique Regency Georgian era blonde lace tambour embroidery bonnet face veil fabric dates from 1830. It is hand stitched, made of a sheer fine off white blonde bobbin lace, plaited mesh, with tambour embroidery work chain stitching done in a flower leaf pattern along the bottom and scalloped side edging. The top edging is unadorned and has a drawstring tie sewn inside along the top seam. This lovely lace fabric is sheer, unlined and would have been worn on a poke style bonnet as a front face veil for modesty. The veil fabric measures 32 inches long and 40 inches wide. It is in good as found condition, which has not been cleaned, with a few small age spot stains. The provenance on the veil is it came from the Major Benjamin Swan House estate in Woodstock, Vermont. This is truly a rare and early piece of Georgian era textile lace art! |
