Vintage 1930s Chinese Black Silk Screen Floral Butterfly Pajama Lounge Set Robe
This vintage Chinese black silk screen floral butterfly pajama lounge set dates from the 1930s. It is made of a black silk crepe fabric, with a colorful silk screen design of flowers and butterflies with roundel medallions. Included in this two piece loose fitting lingerie lounging outfit pajamas set is a coat jacket robe style blouse top, with black silk knotted button toggle closures, a mandarin collar, 3/4 length long full sleeves with flared cuffs and is fully lined in a muted red rayon silk damask fabric. The robe measures 28 inches long, with a 44 inch waist, 40 inch bust, 15 inch back and 15 inch long sleeves. There are matching silk screen loose fitting pants, with flared wide leg cuffs, a V front top elastic back waistband and are unlined. The pants measure 40 inches long, with a 25 inch inseam, 38 inch hips, a 34 to 36 inch waist and 22 inch circumference cuffs. There is a size Small tag sewn inside both pieces and was likely made in Japan for the tourist market and has a Chinese design motif. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Chinese textile art which could easily be worn out today!
