This antique Victorian era maternity red cotton cream lace bustle gown dress dates from the 1870s. It is hand stitched, made of a red cotton fabric, with cream color cotton eyelet lace trim inserts and edging. This magnificent 2 piece maternity dress has a loose fitting long bodice tunic top, with ruffle skirted bottom, collar, long sleeves with rolled cuffs, an adjustable red silk ribbon tie back sash and mother of pearl buttons down the front for closure. The bodice is unlined, measures 35 inches long, with 50 inch hips, a 36 inch waist, 42 inch bust, 13 inch back and 23 inch long sleeves. There is a matching fabric long floor length full skirt, with bustle back, gathers for added fullness, unlined and missing the closure on back waistband. The skirt measures 43 inches long, with a 34 inch waist. It is in good condition, with some fraying of the red silk ribbon back tie and a small frayed hole on the shoulder (see close-up). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of antique Victoriana maternity wearable art! |
