This antique Chinese royal blue silk brocade embroidered butterfly sleeve band robe coat dates from 1910, the late Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched, made of a bright royal blue silk damask peony & butterfly brocade pattern fabric. There is black silk cut work applique trim and pastel silk flower brocade ribbon trim edging. There are light blue silk, colorful embroidered wide sleeve band cuffs, with butterflies and grape vine leaf designs. This magnificent Manchu style court robe is loose fitting, a long mid length, with a high neckline, long wide full sleeves and a side opening with black silk loop toggles and carved gold brass buttons with a bird design. It is fully lined in linen. The robe measures 34 inches long, with 56 inch hips, chest, waist and a 38 inch sleeve cuffs. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art! |
