Antique Chinese  Dragon Silk Embroidered Opera Robe Coat. This antique Chinese dragon silk embroidered sleeve band cuffs opera robe coat dates from late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched, made of a black silk fabric. There is colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work and gold metallic couching work.

This antique Chinese dragon silk embroidered sleeve band cuffs opera robe coat dates from late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched, made of a black silk fabric. There is colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work and gold metallic couching work. There are gold dragons with 5 open claws, large round eyes and the Eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune, fish, endless knot, peony, lotus flowers, peaches, bats, butterflies and Ji Chinese character for luck. There are beautifully embroidered wide sleeve band cuffs, with colorful butterflies and flowers. This magnificent theatrical opera costume is created in the style of Manchu style dragon court robe, with a loose fitting, long mid length, side vents, a split back skirt, long wide full sleeves and a front opening with carved brass round button toggle closures. It is fully lined in a blue linen fabric. The robe measures 43 inches long, with 50 inch hips, chest, waist and 28 inch sleeve cuffs. It is in as-is fair condition, with frayed splits along the silk fabric shoulders and back neck (see close-up). This is still a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art!
