Vintage Chinese Dragon & Phoenix Peking Knot Silk Embroidered Figural Jacket
This vintage antique Chinese dragon and phoenix Peking knot silk embroidered figural jacket dates from the 1940s. It is made of a black silk fabric background, with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery and Peking knot work. There is a lavishly lush floral foliage, figural Chinese women, pagoda temples, dragons and phoenix bird designs completely covering the fabric. The phoenix and dragon represent the bird and animal kingdoms and are a symbol of the entire natural world. This exquisitely embroidered quality made jacket has a loose fitting boxy style, with long full sleeves, mandarin collar, front pockets, fully lined, with silk button toggle closures and an added zipper front closure. The coat measures 26 inches long, with a 44 inch waist, 44 inch bust, 16 inch back and 21 inch long sleeves. It is in excellent condition. This is truly an extraordinary and wonderful piece of wearable Chinese embroidery textile art!
