Antique Chinese Silk Embroidered Butterfly Endless Knot Peony Flower Robe Coat
This antique Chinese silk embroidered butterfly, endless knot, peony flower robe coat dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk fabric, with colorful silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of butterflies, peony flowers which are symbols of of love and affection, representative of good luck and the endless knot a symbol of longevity and eternity. There are blue silk sleeve band cuffs and trim with silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of peony flowers and bats. This magnificent Manchu style surcoat robe is loose fitting, a long mid length, with rounded embroidered neckline, wide exaggerated long full sleeves, side skirt vents, a front opening with black silk loop toggle closures and is fully lined in blue silk. The robe measures 42 inches long, with 46 inch hips, a 46 inch waist and 46 inch chest. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable antique Chinese textile art!
