This antique Victorian era broderie anglaise eyelet embroidered whitework cotton pique cloak cape dates from the 1890s. It is made of a white cotton, pique fabric with broderie anglaise embroidery eyelet cutwork lace whitework needlework. There are embroidered wheat stalks around the ruffle collar. This lovely lace cloak cape is a long mid length, with a layered tiered style, a large ruffle flounce collar, ruched tucks gathering along the shoulders and a mother of pearl button closure at the neck. The cape measures 32 inches long, with a 15 inch neck and is 60 inches in circumference. It is in good condition, with only a small mended repair midway down hidden under the back capelet ruffle. This is truly a beautiful piece of antique whitework!
