This vintage Japanese geisha purple silk silver crane mon family crest formal kimono dates from the Showa Period 1930s. It is hand stitched, made of a dark purple silk damask brocade fabric with silver metallic thread woven into a crane bird pattern. There are cranes in flight which symbolizes good fortune and longevity. This fabulous formal Japanese senior geisha kimono has a purple embroidered mon emblem family crest on the front and back neck (see close-up) and is fully lined in a white silk satin fabric. The kimono measures 63 inches long, with 18 inch long kimono sleeves and is 53 inches across the shoulders. It is in good condition, with only a small cigarette hole burn on the bottom back skirt (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Japanese textile art! |
