This vintage Portuguese folk costume embroidered wool vest top dates from 1900. It is hand stitched, made of a woven red wool and black velvet fabric, with colorful decorative wool stitching hand embroidery work. This pretty Portuguese folk costume vest top has a short cropped sleeveless style, with a squared neckline, front lacing closure and lined in cotton muslin fabric. The vest measures 11 1/2 inches long, with a 22 inch waist and 27 inch bust. It has wonderful workmanship and hand done details. The vest is in good condition, with only a tiny moth nip hole on the side and underarm discoloration on the inside lining (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Portuguese textile folk art from Northern Portugal, Norte Region!
