This rare antique Victorian Civil War era blonde chantilly lace mantilla shawl cloak cape dates from the 1860s. It is made of a sheer fine delicate blonde net French chantilly bobbin lace, with a floral foliage leaf pattern outlined in off white cream colored threads with detailed shading effects and a beautiful decorative scalloped border edging. This lovely lace has a dense lavish lush floral design throughout. It has been created into a large cloak cape shaped shawl style wrap with a rounded neckline, front opening and no closure. The shawl measures 43 inches long, 83 inches wide and has a 20 inch neck. It is in as-is fragile condition, with a frayed back neck and several small holes scattered (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of antique Victoriana lace art!
