This antique vintage black silk gold lamé Chinese style flapper piano shawl dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk fabric, with gold metallic lamé threads woven into the fabric creating a reversible damask brocade pattern. There is a Chinese style design with the Eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune, butterflies, fish, Ji Chinese character for luck, waves of water and clouds around the border edging. The shawl has a hand knotted black silk tassel fringe braided and wrapped with gold thread. This fabulous flapper piano shawl scarf measures 47 by 47 inches, with 16 inch long fringe tassel trim surrounding the entire shawl. It is in good condition, with only some slight tarnish discoloration on the reverse gold side in corner (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful rare piece of wearable Art Deco textile art!
