Antique Chinese Dragon Silk Embroidered Peking Opera Warrior Robe. Tweet

This antique Chinese dragon silk embroidered Peking Opera warrior robe dates from 1900 during the end of the Qing Dynasty. It is made of an off white silk fabric, with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work and gold metallic couching work. There are raised 3 dimensional dragon faces with large round eyes on the front and sleeves. This marvelous theatrical Peking Opera warrior robe costume has a layered tiered tunic drop waist style, is a long floor length, loose fitting with open sides, a split bottom back skirt, long full sleeves open underneath the arms and black trim toggle button front top opening. It is fully lined in a pink linen fabric with Chinese characters written inside (see close-up). The robe measures 54 inches long, with 11 inches wide at the top, 16 inches wide at the bottom and has 26 inch long sleeves. It is in good condition, but has not been cleaned, with some soiling, dirt, discoloration, color bleed and black ink stains (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful unique piece of antique Chinese textile art!
