This vintage Swat Valley Kohistan Pakistan coin beaded embroidered ethnic tribal bib front fabric top dates from the 1940s. It is hand stitched, made of a heavy black cotton twill fabric, with colorful silk embroidered stitching done in geometric designs, a variety of ornamental metal buttons, beads, silver coins and amulet medallion embellishments. There are a variety of coins from Pakistan dating from 1948 through 1981 which would have been added over the years. This beautiful tribal top bib front decorated panel would have been part of a kaftan style wedding dress which has been cut now resembling a backless halter top with a zipper closure front neck, no back and is lined in a floral print fabric. It comes from the Swat Valley region and Kohistan district of Pakistan and Nuristan Afghanistan areas. The front panel measures 25 inches long, 27 inches wide, with a 6 inch long zipper. It is in good condition and great for design to be reworked into something new. This is truly an amazing and rare piece of antique Pakistani, Afghani textile wearable art! |
