This exquisite Edwardian era vintage Hetzel Importing Co gray wool white mohair lace trim winter traveling coat dates from 1910. It is made of a dove gray color wool gabardine fabric, with white mohair fur trim and colorful decorative Arts & Crafts style embroidery work on the collar. There is cream color silk lace trim sleeve cuffs and striped rows accents. This wonderful winter high fashion traveling coat has a loose fitting, long floor length style, with a mohair wide lapel shawl collar, which can be folded up creating a high neck collar with 3 gold brass turquoise studded button closures, gathered smocking tucks around the shoulders, cuffs, long full billowing sleeves, a fitted back, hook closure on the front and is fully lined, with an inside pocket and "Hetzel Importing Co St. Louis" label sewn inside. The coat measures 47 inches long, with 50 inch hips, a 34 inch waist, 38 inch bust, 18 inch back and 17 inch long sleeves. It is in excellent condition, with only a tiny moth nip hole on one sleeve and a small faint stain on the front side (see close-up). This is truly an amazing, exceptional, quality made, rare piece of wearable antique textile art! |
