|
This antique Chinese cream yellow silk blue embroidered butterfly Han wedding skirt dates from the mid 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a pastel yellow cream color silk damask brocade pattern fabric, with varying shades of blue raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work designs of butterflies and flowers, with forbidden stitch Peking knot accents. The butterfly is a symbol of love and affection. This Chinese Han wrap around style wedding skirt has been cut and taken apart into three pieces, with two matching embroidered apron panels with the butterflies on the bottom and a larger panel with the black trim, pleated sides. The two matching embroidered panels each measure 34 inches long, 14 1/2 inches wide and the single black trim pleated panel measures 35 inches long, 24 inches wide. These skirt fabric remnants are in good condition, great for design and could be restored or remade into something new. This is a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art! |
