This antique Chinese fuchsia purple silk embroidered butterfly Han wedding skirt dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a purple fuchsia color silk damask brocade patterned fabric. There are colorful pastel hand embroidered raised padded satin stitch needlework designs of beautiful butterflies, flowers and black ink stenciled outlines. The skirt has two matching embroidered apron panels on the front and back, with butterfly, vine leaf flowers embroidered hidden inside the pleated sides. This Han womens wedding early wrap around style apron skirt has a wide linen waistband sewn along the top. The skirt measures 38 inches long, with a 49 inch wide waistband. It is in as-is fair condition, with a few faint stains, slight fading and some missing embroidered thread stitching (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art!
