This exquisite Edwardian era vintage La Samaritaine Brussels black silk Battenburg tape lace long coat jacket dates from 1910. It is made of a black silk Battenburg crochet lace created with tapes, connecting thread picot ornamented bars with decorative spiral, floral, leaf, scroll work designs. This lovely lace loose fitting coat jacket is a long length, with long full sleeves, fitted cuffs, large decorative silk soutache toggle button closures on the front and back and is sheer, unlined. There is an "A La Samaritaine Bruxelles" store label sewn inside. The coat measures 40 inches long, with 40 inch hips, a 32 inch waist, 34 inch bust and 14 inch back. It is in good condition, with only some small frayed breaks in the connecting brides and mended repairs (see close-ups). This is truly an amazing, exceptional, quality made piece of wearable antique lace art! |
