This antique Chinese character embroidered purple lilac silk damask brocade robe dates from the the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a light purple lilac color silk damask weave brocade fabric, with the Ji Chinese character for luck woven into the pattern. There is colorful silk damask brocade ribbon, padded satin stitch, gold couching work embroidered trim edging the robe, with Chinese characters embroidered onto the front two squares. This lovely lilac Manchu womens robe is a short mid length, has a mandarin collar, decorative black silk appliqué front with pink knotted trim edging, replaced newer buttons with loop toggle closures, long full sleeves and has been relined in a pink cotton fabric. The robe measures 30 inches long, with a 44 inch waist and 44 inch chest. It is in good as-is condition, with some fade discoloration in areas. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable antique Chinese art!
