This antique Victorian era black silk taffeta bobbin lace mourning gown bodice train skirt dress dates from 1900. It is made of a black silk taffeta fabric, with drawn cut work, eyelet embroidery and bobbin lace appliqué inserts. This magnificent mourning gown two piece dress has a long back train skirt and pigeon front bodice blouse top with a high neck collar, pleated sheer chiffon ruffle insert front dickey, long full sleeves with fitted ruffle cuffs, hook closures along the front side and is fully lined with stays boning inside. It is a large wearable size. The bodice measures 18 inches long, with a 30 inch waist, 40 inch bust and 15 inch back. There is a matching fabric embellished skirt, with a long back train, scalloped hemline, hook, snap closures on the back and is fully lined with a black silk petticoat sewn inside. The skirt measures 48 inches long in the front, 55 inches long in the back, with a 30 inch waist. It is in good as-is condition, with some fraying separation of the lace appliques on the skirt and front top (see close-ups). This would be great for display, design, study, pattern or restoration. It is truly a wonderful piece of Victoriana mourning wearable art!
