This antique Victorian era black plush velvet mohair jet beaded soutache trim winter cloak cape mantle dates from 1880. It is made of a black heavy plush velvet mohair fabric, with jet beading and soutache embroidered trim done in decorative designs. This wonderful winter mantle cloak cape has a large collar which can be worn up or folded down, a flared full swing bottom, fully lined and a hook closure at the neck. The cape measures 27 inches long, 18 inches across the shoulders and 92 inches in circumference around the bottom. It is in good condition, with only some wear fraying along the velvet nap collar edging (see close-up). This is a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana winter mourning wearable art!
