Victorian Magenta Pink Silk Ball Gown With Train Skirt 2 Bodices & Bow Belt. Tweet
|
This antique Victorian era magenta pink silk ball gown with train, two bodices and bow belt dates from the late 1860s. It is made of a bright brilliant pink magenta color silk satin fabric. This 4 piece beautiful ball gown has a skirt with train, bow belt and 2 fitted short crop bodices. The first bodice has long sleeves, with flared bell shape cuff, black Chantilly lace trim, a V front neckline, button front closure and is fully lined. It measures 14 inches long, with a 22 inch waist, 32 inch bust and 20 inch long sleeves. The second bodice has short cap sleeves, with scalloped ruffle trim, has an off the shoulder neckline, corseted back lacing closure and is fully lined. It measures 9 inches long, with a 20 inch waist and 30 inch bust. There is a long floor length very full hoop skirt, with a long back train, ruffle hem with crinoline lining underneath the hemline and no back closure or waistband which perhaps was not finished or was taken apart. The skirt measures 44 inches long in the front, 66 inches long in the back, with a 28 inch waist. Included is a matching fabric belted bow back sash with hook closure front and a 22 inch waistband and also two unattached small bow trim which I have photographed laid on the shoulders. It is in excellent condition and looks to have never been worn, with only a 2 inch frayed split on the back skirt near the bottom (see close-up). This is truly a rare and exceptional piece of antique Victoriana wearable art! |
