This vintage Indian Gujarati kutch work embroidery mirrored Art Deco cocoon coat dates from the 1920s. It is made of a cream color silk fabric with a natural dyed red linen fabric and colorful decorative crewel chain stitch kutch work embroidery done in the tribal folk patterns from Gujarati, Rajasthan India and Sindh Pakistan. There are small mirrors embroidered into the decorative designs. This amazing Art Deco cocoon wrap coat is loose fitting, has a long mid length style, with a embroidered large fold over shawl sailor collar, long full sleeves with embroidered wide cuffs, an embroidered trim hem skirt, single button closure on the drop waist and is unlined. The coat measures 40 inches long, with a 40 inch bust, 40 inch waist and 23 inch long sleeves. It is in good as-is condition, has not been cleaned, with some faint water spot stains near the bottom front side opening and 3 small frayed holes (see close-up). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of Indian Pakistani folk culture boho meets Art Deco wearable art! |
