This antique Victorian Civil War era silk brocade plaid hoop skirt wrapper gown dress dates from the 1860s. It is made of an iridescent brownish gray taupe color silk damask weave brocade with a holly leaf print design woven into the fabric and a blue, green, black, red plaid pattern silk taffeta fabric accent. This stylish unique two tone wrapper dress has a long floor length full hoop skirt (hoop not included underneath), with a smocking gathered inner drawstring waist, long layered tiered sleeves, brown silk mesh net covered button closures all the way down the front, side skirt pockets with a bundle of extra dress fabric wrapped inside and is fully lined. The dress measures 54 inches long, with a 32 inch waist, 36 inch bust and 20 inch sleeve. It is in good condition, with only some slight discoloration along the sleeves and under the arms which have a few tiny frayed splits in the silk fabric (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana textile art! |
