Victorian Antique Black Wool Patched Patchwork Bustle Dress Wrapper Hobo Costume
This antique Victorian era black wool patched patchwork bustle dress wrapper hobo costume dates from 1880. It is made of a black wool fabric, with colorful patches remnants of fabric, ribbons, yarns and laces creating a patchwork design. This womens wrapper dress has a slight bustle back gathered long full floor length skirt, a bow, lace trim neckline collar, long sleeves with lace cuffs, a bottom lace ruffle hemline, patch pockets, a variety of decorative buttons down the front with snap closures hidden underneath and is unlined. The dress measures 58 inches long, with a 44 inch waist, 44 inch bust and 25 inch long sleeves. This creative unique dress has a hand made hobo costume style using an older Victorian era period dress and embellishing it with a mixture of vintage fabrics, buttons and trims. It is in good as-is condition, with some fade discoloration on the shoulders, sleeves and several small moth holes scattered throughout (see close-up). This is truly an unusual and wonderful piece of antique Victoriana wearable textile art!
