This vintage Emery, Bird, Thayer Co. black velvet long evening jacket opera coat dates from the 1940s. It is made of a luxurious black velvet fabric. This beautiful black long floor length evening jacket opera coat has a fold over collar with open front, broad shoulder padding, gathered shoulders with long tapered sleeves, fitted cuffs, a single velvet covered button closure at the waist and is fully lined. There is an "Emery, Bird, Thayer Co, Kansas City, Mo." department store label sewn inside. The coat measures 52 inches long, with a 30 inch waist, 38 inch bust, 23 inch long sleeve and 14 inch back between the top shoulders. It is in good condition, with only a few small crush marks on the velvet fabric which has not been steamed. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable art!
