This antique Victorian era black cotton ruffled ribbon, lace patchwork petticoat skirt costume dates from the 1880s. It is made of a black polished cotton fabric, with colorful patched remnants of fabric, ribbons, white eyelet, black laces creating a patchwork design. This pretty petticoat skirt is a long full floor length, with layers of ruffles, a brown plaid silk ribbon bow trim accent side, blue patch pocket, replaced newer bark cloth floral fabric waistband, an open back with no closure, polished brown cotton, velvet trim dust ruffle hem underneath and is unlined. The skirt measures 40 inches long, with a 50 inch waist. This creative unique skirt has a hand made hobo costume style using an older Victorian era period petticoat and embellishing it with a mixture of vintage fabrics and trims. It is in good as-is condition, with a few faint age spot stains and frayed breaks in the lace trim (see close-up). This is truly an unusual and wonderful piece of antique Victoriana wearable textile art!
