This vintage Japanese peacock red silk gold embroidered uchikake wedding kimono dates from during the Showa period in the 1950s. It is made of a white watered moire silk and reddish orange ombre tie dye damask fabric, with a colorful silk and gold metallic thread raised padded satin stitch embroidered Japanese chrysanthemum flowers and peacock birds. The peacock is a symbol of integrity, love and beauty. This magnificent unique uchikake kimono would have been worn by the bride at a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. It is fully lined, with an open front, no closure, long swinging kimono sleeves and a large rolled padded bottom hem. The kimono measures 72 inches long, with 40 inch long sleeves and a 48 inch waist and bust. It is good as-is condition, with some loose stitching, open seams along the sleeve and several color bleeding, water spot stains both inside and outside (see close-ups).
