It is made of an off white sheer fine cotton muslin fabric with a ethereal lilac pink poppy flower leaf print design and black velvet ribbon trim edging.

This antique Victorian era lilac pink poppy print cotton muslin cutaway swagged polonaise bodice dates from the 1870s. It is made of an off white sheer fine cotton muslin fabric with a ethereal lilac pink poppy flower leaf print design and black velvet ribbon trim edging. This pretty poppy polonaise style overdress bodice has a cutaway side swagged pannier drape overskirt along the hips, a squared neckline with ruffle flounce collar, gathered shoulders with 3/4 length sleeves, flared lace cuffs, a fitted waist coming to a point at the bottom, hook closures down the front and stays boning sewn inside. The top measures 21 inches long, 40 inches long on the sides, with a 22 inch waist, 32 inch bust and 17 inch long sleeves. It is in good condition, but has not been cleaned and has a few faint small stains and some fraying along the edging of the back skirt split opening. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana textile art!
