This antique Victorian royal blue silk gigot mutton sleeve morning tea gown wrapper robe dress dates from 1890. It is made of a royal blue color silk fabric, with black Chantilly lace trim along the bottom skirt. This beautiful blue morning tea gown wrapper robe dress has pleated gathering details, gigot leg of mutton style sleeves with fitted straight cuffs, a high collar pleated neck ruffle, hook closures down the front inside bodice insert and outside, an attached belted sash with mother of pearl clasp closure, a long full skirt with slight bustle back train, side skirt pockets and is lined in a flannel fabric for warmth with stays boning sewn inside. The gown measures 58 inches long in the front, 64 inches long in the back, with a 30 inch bust, a 24 inch waist, 12 inches across the back shoulder seam and 22 inch long sleeves. It is in fair as-is condition, needing some restoration, with a few frayed splits on the sleeves, back shoulder, along with a mended repair and some lace is missing from the front bottom skirt (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of Victoriana wearable art! |
